Daryle Starr, surrounded by his loving wife and sons, passed away too soon Thursday, August 10, 2017, four months after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer.
Daryle was born April 27, 1954 to Donald and Yone Kasahara Starr in Tremonton, Utah. He grew up in West Valley City, graduating from Cyprus High School. After high school, Daryle attended the University of Utah and Utah State University. He also served in the United States Air Force and The Utah National Guard.
He was lucky enough to be married just shy of 41 years, to his soul mate Shellie Quinn, August 13, 1976 in Salt Lake City. He had recently retired from Century Link, having worked for the phone company for 41 years. The most cherished portion of his life was the time he spent with his family. He loved to go to Jackson, Wyoming with his children and grandchildren, making “Grandpa’s famous pancakes” every morning. He was always up for a game of croquet or Scrabble, and particularly loved to play Texas Hold ‘Em with the extended Starr Family. He loved good food, especially his wife’s carrot cake, smothered burritos from La Fountain, and sushi in Vegas at “Makino”.
Daryle was a man that made life seem a bit brighter. He always had a goofy joke to tell, followed by his token laugh, and was an easy conversationalist. He was always looking for ways to help everyone around him, and spent a good deal of his life giving of his time and resources. He was beloved by all who knew him, and will be missed tremendously.
He is survived by his wife Shellie Quinn Starr; sons, Trenton (Brooke) Starr, Dustin Starr, and Taylor Starr; his grandchildren, Julie, Courtnie, Clark and Kate; his father, Donald Starr; sister, Peggy (Terry) Schramm; brothers, Larry (Karen) Starr, Michael (Renae) Starr, and Rick (Lisa) Starr; mother-in-law, Linda Christensen Quinn; sisters-in-law, Becky (Ted) Dangerfield, Pattie (Alan) Despain, Lisa (Duane) Christlieb, and Amy Reiser; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Yone Starr; father-in-law, Thomas Quinn; and brothers-in-law, Michael Quinn and Ric Reiser.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Shortridge and Dr. Jane McPherson.
There will be a funeral on August 26th at the L.D.S. Church, 7035 Loch Ness Ave. West Valley City. Visit with Daryle's family and friends 11am-12pm, funeral at 12pm.
